PRODUCT SAFETY
We love that you enjoy burning our candles in your home, however there are some important safety instructions that must be followed in order to have the best candle burning experience.
The most important thing to remember is that candles are a naked flame, and they need to be treated with caution and respect.
We take candle safety very seriously at ECOYA, so when you first open your ECOYA candle, you will find safety instructions inside the candle jar and on the base of both the carton and the vessel. It is important to read these instructions for safe candle burning.
CANDLE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
— Always ensure you burn your candle on a stable and heat resistant surface, away from drafts or items that can catch alight.
— If there is a strong draft it can cause the flame to burn unevenly and against the glass for a long period of time, causing black soot and excessive heat against the glass.
— If you’re burning more than one candle at a time, space your candles approximately 100mm (10cm) apart.
— Never leave a burning candle unattended or near children or pets.
— Never move a burning candle. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid, and jar is cold before handling.
TRIM YOUR WICK
Always, always, always trim the wick to 6mm before each burn to allow for a clean, even burn.
This will also maximise the longevity of the candle. Your candle can burn up to 20% longer if you trim your wick regularly!
If your wick becomes too large, it can mushroom, causing excess soot and more heat, so will therefore burn through your candle faster, decreasing the overall burn time.
DO NOT BURN FOR MORE THAN THREE HOURS
Do not burn your candle for more than three hours at a time. Burning it longer may cause vessels to overheat or the wax pool to get too deep.
Our candles are poured into vessels made from annealed soda lime silicate glass; a glass designed specifically for candle burning.
BURN TO THE EDGE OF THE VESSEL
Candles have a burn memory, so be sure to burn your candle all the way to the edge of the vessel every time you burn it. This will make sure your candle burns evenly each time, maximising burning time.

WHEN TO EXTINGUISH
Discontinue use when 10mm / 1cm of wax remains to prevent the vessel from overheating.
Our wicks have been designed to self-extinguish at approximately 10mm. However, if your candle has been burning for a longer period the wick is likely bigger and therefore generating more heat and burning through the wax faster.
If it becomes too hot, the heat can surpass the crimping in the wick which is designed to self-extinguish. The wick is attached to a metal tab on the bottom of your candle and if that overheats then breakages may occur.
HOW TO EXTINGUISH
Use a snuffer or blow it out gently. This will eliminate black sooty particles from getting stuck in the wax.
Do not extinguish with the lid or water.

REUSING YOUR ECOYA CANDLE
You can re-use your ECOYA glass jar by gently washing out the remaining wax with warm soapy water. Be careful not to use anything too abrasive when washing as you may scratch the inside of the jar.
They make for a great vase, the perfect jar for your makeup brushes, cotton buds or even under the sink with your washing up utensils.
RECYCLING YOUR ECOYA CANDLE
Alternatively, you can recycle your ECOYA candle vessel. It is important to remove any remaining wax and the wick tab before recycling.
We suggest the following; when your candle has around 10mm of wax remaining, pop it in the freezer for a day or two. This will shrink the remaining wax, separating it from the glass. Hold the candle upside down and give it a good tap on the bottom of the vessel. The remaining wax and wick tab should drop out. Use warm, soapy water and a gentle cloth to wipe out any remaining wax residue.

WHERE TO PLACE YOUR DIFFUSER
Keep the diffuser in a shaded, cool spot. Sunlit areas like along a windowsill or above a heater will dry out and evaporate the oil and reeds quicker.
Another tip to preserving your reed diffuser is to place it away from drafty spaces where the fragrance will ultimately get lost e.g. doorways, windows, air conditioning.
SET UP
Unscrew cap and remove the plastic stopper from the decanter. Place reeds into the decanter and replace cap. Let the fragrance oil absorb into the reeds, and naturally diffuse the scent into the room. The fragrance will continue to evaporate into the air around it, creating a constant ambiance.
DIFFUSER SAFETY
Diffusers should be kept on a higher shelf or surface, well out of reach of children and animals.
Do not allow oil to come into contact with skin, furniture, fabrics or finished wood/enamel surfaces. If contact does occur, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
